One of the most common attractions in Malaysia is the food. This is contributed largely to the multi cultural nature of the Malaysian people who are consisted of Malays, Chinese, Indians and many ethnic groups, you can be sure that food in around the country are often unique and each group would have its own recipe of cooking a specific food.

Malay food like the satay, nasi lemak, nasi kerabu are cooked differently in all parts of the country. you would be aware that the laksa found in Penang would differ very much from those found in Johor as well as those found in Sarawak because each state would have its own way of cooking the very much loved local cuisine.

Chinese food in Malaysia though would most likely be similar and Malaysians are very much aware that the best chicken rice would be from Ipoh while the best Char Koay Teow would be from Penang, but the Chicken rice from Malacca is uniquely original and different from the ones in Ipoh.

Indian food, which are usually spicy and hot are common favourites with Malaysians from all walks of life. we are very much used to Indian food perhaps because of our lifestyle of hanging out until the wee hours of the morning at mamak stalls. You must read this section to know more about the culture when eating at Indian restaurants like folding of the banana leaf upwards or downwards would imply different meanings.

Malaysian food are an original lot. Apart from the very much specialized food, there are the fusion style cooking which cuts across ethnic and culture. For instance, Chinese satay or Chikuteh are food you can find in Malaysia which are originated from one culture and changed into another for the benefit of all Malaysians.
